dab radio 1DAB radio in car is gaining popularity fast, with the switch off of FM looming, and DAB coverage and content has never been better.

Regardless of the system currently in your car, we can add to or replace it to ensure your are enjoying a vast choice of music with crystal clear reception. The main types of system are outlined below, all can be fitted with either a glass mount or body mount antenna, with body mount giving the best reception.

Add-on

A seperate DAB tuner is added to the existing car audio system with connection via FM modulator or ideally via direct aux input connection if the vehicle allows. The tunerhas its own inbuilt display and all control except volume is via the DAB tuner itself. An example of this product is the Pure Highway.

Other add on units offer a smaller display and controls on show by using a hide away main unit. These systems such as the Alpine EZi-DAB and Pure Highway 300Di also provide an iPod input for charging, control and playback from any iPod or USB device.

Integrated Add-on

dab radio 2jpgAn add-on DAB tuner again but one which utilises the vehicles existing displays and controls to give the impression of a factory fitted product. Available for a wide range of vehicles this is the most discreet of solutions. Compatible vehicles only.

This hideaway option is also available as a non vehicle specific option with control of the DAB tuner via a remote control and display via the vehicles existing display through RDS.

Replacement

Many aftermarket head units now come with integrated DAB tuners. If your vehicle’s head unit is easily replaced then this can be a great value way of adding DAB to your car as features such as iPod or iPhone integration and Bluetooth hands free calling often part of the package. DAB head units are availble from all the major brands including Alpine, Pioneer and Kenwood.
